Who are those silly ladies?

Red Hat Society ladies were on the move in Sumter recently. If you visited the Sumter Mall last Saturday, you probably saw a hundred or more ladies over the age of 50 dressed in purple and red and they weren't celebrating Halloween. They were being their cheerful silly selves and seizing the day as it was declared Red Hat Day in both the city of Sumter and the county.

Career Day at Crestwood High School

Career Specialists, Vira James and Cicely McNeill of Crestwood High School brought 42 vendors together in the high school gymnasium last week to promote career awareness, exploration and preparation. It gave students the opportunity to learn more about the academics and skills required by businesses and industry for chosen career paths.
High School students were equipped with a questionnaire that helped aid them with questions one might ask if interested in a particular career. Some of the questions students asked venders included: What do you like most and least about this career, what high school courses will help prepare for this career, what strengths and personal qualities are needed to “fit” this career and what is the salary for this career?

As the football world turns

So much for a football season. The way things are going these days, Clemson and USC fans are in the midst of what has turned out to be a pretty good soap opera.
On Monday, the turbulent Tommy Bowden era finally reached a merciful end, thanks to his ‘resignation.' Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips was emphatic in letting everyone know that Bowden was not fired, that he resigned. Clemson's Death Valley finally proved to be Bowden's Valley of Death.
